Roof Insurance Claim Help in Cincinnati

Most homeowners file one roof claim in their life. Adjusters handle hundreds a year. We level that out — with a free inspection, a full photo report, and someone on your side of the roof when the adjuster shows up.

Signs your roof took a hit

Hail damage is hard to see from the ground. If any of these showed up after a storm, get it looked at before it turns into a leak.

  • Dents on gutters, downspouts or AC fins
  • Granules piling up at downspout exits
  • Missing, lifted or creased shingles
  • Dings on siding, window wraps or vents
  • Neighbors getting new roofs
  • New ceiling stains or attic leaks

The claim, start to finish

  1. 01

    Free inspection & photo report

We inspect every slope, gutters, siding and soft metals, and send you a photo report the same day. No damage? We tell you — and you keep the report.

  2. 02

    You file the claim

You call your insurance company and report the storm date. We walk you through what they'll ask so you're ready.

  3. 03

    Adjuster inspection — we're there

We meet the adjuster on your roof and show every piece of damage we documented, plus the code-required items a proper replacement includes.

  4. 04

    Review the estimate together

We go through your carrier's estimate line by line. If something was missed, we send the carrier the photos and documentation to support it.

  5. 05

    Build day

Choose your shingle and color. Tear-off and install usually takes one day, with full cleanup and a photo-documented job file for your records.

  6. 06

    Final paperwork

We send completion photos and the final invoice so any withheld depreciation can be released to you.

Ohio code & insurance rules

Got a "patch job" estimate? In Ohio, that's often not the end of the story.

Your adjuster's first estimate is a starting point. Ohio building code and Ohio insurance rules often call for more than spot repairs, and we document every one of them on your roof so your carrier can see it.

Ohio's matching rule

Ohio Administrative Code 3901-1-54 says when replaced material doesn't match in quality, color or size, the insurer must replace enough of it to give a reasonably comparable appearance. Discontinued or weathered shingles can mean more than a few patched slopes. We photograph the mismatch for your claim file.

Two layers? It all comes off.

Ohio's residential code doesn't allow a new roof over two existing layers of shingles. If your roof already has two, a replacement means a full tear-off to the deck. We count layers at the cut and photograph it.

Decking, ice barrier & drip edge are code

Asphalt shingles have to go on solid, sound decking, so rotted or gapped boards get replaced first. Code also calls for ice barrier at the eaves and drip edge at the edges. If they're missing from your estimate, we document them for your carrier to review.

Can't you just repair it?

Sometimes, and we'll tell you. But brittle shingles that crack when lifted, discontinued products and hail bruising across several slopes often make a proper repair impossible. We test for brittleness by hand and note it in your report.

Ohio puts your carrier on a clock. Under Ohio rules, insurers generally must acknowledge a claim within 15 days and accept or deny it within 21 days of receiving a completed proof of loss. Waiting longer than that? Call us and we'll help you get your documentation in order.

Questions we hear every week

Will filing a storm claim raise my rates?

Storm claims are weather events, not something you caused. How any carrier rates them varies by company and policy, so ask your agent — but leaving real damage unrepaired can cost you more later.

How long do I have to file?

It depends on your policy — many set a limit from the date of the storm. Check your policy or call us; we can help you pin down the storm date for your address.

Do I have to use the insurance company's contractor?

No. It's your home and your choice who works on it.

What will I pay out of pocket?

On an approved claim, typically your deductible plus any upgrades you choose. We'll show you the numbers before anything is signed.

What if my claim is denied?

We'll review the denial with you and tell you honestly whether there's documentation worth sending back — or whether a repair makes more sense.

My adjuster only approved a repair. Is that final?

Not always. If the estimate missed matching, code-required items or hidden decking damage, your carrier can review new documentation. We provide the photos and a line-item scope.

What does Ohio's matching rule cover?

Ohio Administrative Code 3901-1-54 requires a reasonably comparable appearance when replaced materials don't match. It applies to roofing and siding.
